I like this guy Zacchaeus for a number of reasons. ( Luke 19:1-10) First of all, he was a short guy. You just don’t get it you “tall” people how difficult it is to be little. Everything is designed for the “big” or should I say the “normal” people. Try brushing your teeth with the counter top pressed up against your chest. What was the builder thinking…Goliath?
Even in high school the girls all dated the “tall, dark, and handsome guys.” I love high school reunions because a number of those categories have changed. Tall, fat, and …. Girls never look for the short and smart. Or how about, he has a good work ethic? Yea, right. It’s all about the “looks”. Enough venting.
Zacchaeus can’t get to see Jesus because of the “big” people. But does he give up. No…. He runs ahead and climbs a tree. Us little guys get the job done while the “big” people stand around and talk. When Jesus comes by, guess who gets to eat with Jesus. Ha ha. The little guy. If you want to hear the rest of the sermon, you can go to fgfnj.org and listen to the sermon (once it gets posted).
